The Federal Programs' staff works with district and campus administrators to manage several federal grants. Funding from the U.S. Department of Education is provided through the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 so that the district can provide supplemental instructional and support assistance.
  • To assist in improving the instructional program districtwide so that Title I and migrant students have equal opportunities as other children to meet challenging State academic standards.
  • To provide opportunities for children served to acquire the knowledge and skills contained in the state content standards -- Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and to meet the statewide assessment standards.
  • Provide additional educational opportunities and assistance in addition to the regular services normally provided for participating children.
  • To strengthen the parental involvement component at every campus.
  • To demonstrate a decrease in the high school dropout rate, thereby increasing the graduation rate; and
  • Provide funds to supplement, not supplant, regular non-federal funds.
