LADY FALCON BASKETBALL RULES

FOR PRACTICE AND GAMES

  1. Be on time.  This means be on the court dressed and ready to go at the designated starting time.  It is good practice to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to practice so that you allow time to get completely in uniform when the whistle blows to begin practice.  If you need to see the trainer you need to be there at least 10 minutes before practice.  Do not spend your time in the hall talking to your friends.  DO NOT BE LATE!!!!
  2. Be present to all practices and games.  An athlete who is going to be absent must call prior to practice to inform her coach she will not be attending.  The telephone numbers are:  254-2406, 254-2408.   An athlete who misses practice will have to make it up. A make up consists of 5 sets of 5 ten second sprints and 1 suicide in 35 seconds equaling one set.
  3. Be in proper attire for practice.  This includes: School issued shorts and shirt, reversible, shoes laced up ready to go, wearing NO jewelry, nails cut to an appropriate length, and hair up and out of the face. Reversible must be worn everyday and not taken off unless told otherwise.
  4. Be responsible for all your equipment.  Place practice or game clothes in the laundry cart/machine so that it can be washed and returned to you for the next practice or game.  Use only the equipment issued to you.  Do not take someone else’s clothes.  Encourage others to do the same.  Under no circumstances will an athlete take her uniform home to be washed.  It must be returned to the coach after the game either in the locker room or laundry room.  Ask your coach!
  5. See the trainers first before the doctor, unless it is an emergency.
  6. If you are injured or sick and you attend school we expect you to be at practice unless advised otherwise by your coach.
  7. Homework Center/After School Tutorials will only be permitted for students who have averages of 75 or below in their classes.
  8. Appropriate behavior will be expected of all athletes when we travel on the bus as well as at games, whether they are at home or away at another school.
  9. Athletes are expected to follow the school’s Code of Conduct and Dress Code when we travel.
  10. Athletes must have a dependable ride home each day from practice. We let out practice around 5:50 p.m. to allow athletes time to make it to the 6:00 p.m. bus near the cafeteria.

**If athletes are parent pick-ups, they must be picked up before 6:15 p.m. each evening.  If it becomes habitual that the athlete is picked up late, there will be consequences in the form of limited or no playing time or extra running at practice. Please make sure to inform your athlete of any changes in transportation home so they can plan accordingly.
